Analytics Engineer (SQL)

TL;DR

Analytics Engineer (SQL): Building and optimizing business-ready data pipelines and SQL transformations to modernize the analytics stack with an accent on translating business logic into scalable data models. Focus on migrating legacy ETL workflows from DOMO to a modern data platform using dbt.

Location: Hybrid in Maple Plain, MN (on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or granted refugee/asylee status (ITAR compliance).

Salary: $87,400 - $131,000 a year

What you will do

• Partner with business and technical teams to clarify metrics, definitions, and reporting logic.
• Migrate legacy DOMO ETL pipelines and business logic into SQL-based transformations on a modern data platform.
• Write and maintain complex SQL queries ensuring correctness and alignment with business intent.
• Validate data outputs by comparing results against source systems and existing reports.
• Adopt and implement modern analytics engineering practices using tools like dbt.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure data solutions meet real business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (CS, Engineering, Math, Economics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of practical experience with SQL in a production or reporting environment.
• Experience working with ETL pipelines or BI tool-driven transformations.
• Ability to translate business processes into metrics and analytics requirements.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or granted refugee/asylee status due to ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Exposure to dbt or other SQL-based data transformation tools.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and Git version control.
• Experience using BI tools and understanding how business users consume data.
