Analytics Engineer

TL;DR

Analytics Engineer (Databricks/dbt): Building, testing, and maintaining shared analytical data models for self-serve insights with an accent on fact/dimension modeling, KPI logic, and data quality. Focus on designing scalable Silver/Gold layer models, implementing automated tests, and enabling distributed analytics teams.

Location: Dallas, TX - Hybrid (3x in office per week)

What you will do

• Design and maintain fact/dimension models in Databricks using dbt for dashboards and self-service analytics.
• Onboard new data sources and build Bronze/Silver layers to make data usable by analysts.
• Implement KPI logic in Silver/Gold models ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with analysts across business units to translate needs into scalable shared models.
• Support releases with testing, documentation, and triage of data issues.
• Provide guidance on data usage, SQL best practices, and improve assets based on feedback.

Requirements

• 3–6 years in analytics engineering or related data roles
• Strong SQL for production data models
• Hands-on dbt (Core or Cloud)
• Cloud data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake
• Experience with regulated data (PII/PHI)
• Clear communication of data changes to non-technical partners
• Large datasets handling, validation, reconciliation
• Strong Excel proficiency

Nice to have

• Medallion/layered data architectures
• Automated data quality tools (dbt tests, Soda)
• Orchestration workflows (Airflow, Azure Data Factory)
• Finance/Operations/Commercial analytics experience
