What you will do
- Provide academic advising to over 550 undergraduate and graduate students regarding course selection, degree requirements, and academic progression.
- Coordinate administrative workflows for academic programs, including timetabling, registration, and graduation adjudication.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student inquiries, resolving complex academic and personal issues while maintaining accurate records.
- Plan and execute student-focused events, orientations, and recognition activities to enhance the student experience.
- Manage student group relations and facilitate communication between the department, faculty, and student chapters.
- Support the Academic Program Manager with reporting, statistical analysis, and procedural documentation.
Requirements
- High School graduation plus a two-year post-secondary diploma and four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
- Expert-level proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web publishing applications.
- Strong business English writing skills with the ability to compose and edit correspondence clearly.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, sensitivity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, with the capacity to handle multiple conflicting priorities.
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends as required.
Nice to have
- Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Experience with systems such as SISC, FSC, and SCMC.
- Familiarity with Biomedical Engineering program culture.
- Experience with event planning and supervising student staff.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canvas, and Microsoft SharePoint.
