Principal Systems Analyst (Mainframe Modernization)

TL;DR

Principal Systems Analyst (Mainframe Modernization): Analyzing operational mainframe data and building reporting mechanisms to track workload reduction as part of a cloud modernization strategy with an accent on data aggregation and KPI visualization. Focus on translating complex technical metrics from IBM mainframe environments into executive-level dashboards using SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Merrimack, New Hampshire (Hybrid: 1 week onsite / 1 week remote)

Salary: $50/Hr – $65/Hr

What you will do

• Analyze IBM mainframe operational and performance data including SMF, RMF, CICS, and DB2.
• Build dashboards and reporting tools to track modernization progress and platform consumption.
• Develop executive-level KPI visualizations using Power BI and BusinessObjects.
• Utilize SQL and Snowflake to aggregate and transform large operational datasets.
• Investigate workload spikes, anomalies, and operational trends.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, and modernization teams to document data flows.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in a hybrid model in Merrimack, NH.
• Strong IBM mainframe operational knowledge (LPARs, SYSPLEX, CECs, batch processing).
• Advanced experience with SQL and Snowflake.
• Proficiency in Power BI and SAP BusinessObjects.
• Ability to translate technical findings into business-focused insights.
• Experience analyzing SMF/RMF, CICS, and DB2 performance data.

Nice to have

• Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives.
• Background in capacity management or performance engineering.
• Familiarity with financial services or enterprise-scale transaction environments.
• Knowledge of Control-M or batch scheduling.
