Location: Must be located in or able to support the New England, Long Island, and New York City region. Regular travel (2–3 times per week) is required, including responses up to 6 hours from home.

What you will do

• Conduct independent fire and explosion Origin and Cause investigations according to NFPA 921 and industry best practices.
• Examine fire scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and document findings through photographs and sketches.
• Analyze fire dynamics, burn patterns, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
• Prepare clear, defensible, and well-supported technical investigative reports.
• Collaborate with forensic experts, attorneys, and claims professionals to support litigation.
• Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings when required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience conducting origin and cause fire investigations as a certified investigator.
• NAFI – CFEI certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033.
• Must be located in or willing to support New England, Long Island, and New York City.
• Valid driver’s license and clean criminal record.
• Ability to work in hazardous environments and perform physical fieldwork (climbing, lifting).

Nice to have

• IAAI-CFI certification.
• Experience with forensic documentation tools and digital reporting platforms.
