What you will do

• Conduct rigorous geometric evaluations of sensor placement hypotheses to support perception requirements.
• Define multi-modal sensor placement strategies to maximize field of view and operational design domain.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine hardware integration methods for sensor suites.
• Oversee the enhancement of analytical tools and reporting to improve operational precision.
• Ensure physical sensor placement meets rigorous perception software requirements.
• Leverage vehicle geometry knowledge to align requirements with mechanical, industrial, and product design teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Physics required.
• 5-10 years of professional industry experience in Automotive or Aerospace & Defense.
• Deep understanding of multi-modal sensing functionality (cameras, LiDAR, radar).
• Strong grasp of autonomous vehicle sensing architecture and perception fundamentals.
• Expertise in managing large CAD assemblies and performing geometric layout analyses.
• Must be able to work on-site in Mountain View, CA or Novi, MI.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Physics.
• Experience with system engineering fundamentals, trade studies, and validation methods.
• Proficiency in CATIA.
• Experience navigating ambiguity in large, complex systems with multiple stakeholders.
