Staff LiDAR Systems Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid, based in the Mountain View, California office at least 3 days per week; 5 days encouraged. Occasional domestic and international travel is required. The role may be performed from one of hirify.global's listed US offices.

Salary: $181,000–$262,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, specify, and optimize LiDAR systems and solutions for the hirify.global Driver autonomous vehicle platform.
• Develop and maintain LiDAR system requirements and manage them end to end.
• Plan and perform LiDAR testing, evaluation, verification, validation, and on-vehicle data collection.
• Track LiDAR technology and product developments and build a technology landscape.
• Analyze fleet data, system-level issues, risks, and root causes affecting real-world performance.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Firmware, Validation, Manufacturing, and Hardware Safety teams and present technical reports to management.

Requirements

• MS in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of industry experience in sensor systems.
• Experience with complex, multi-domain systems and contract manufacturers.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in the office at least 3 days per week from a US hirify.global office.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. or equivalent.
• Automotive systems or autonomous driving industry experience.
• Familiarity with LiDAR, optical sensing technologies, and systems engineering best practices.
