DBA Engineer (MySQL)

Location: Bulgaria or Georgia; hybrid work mode

What you will do

• Run MySQL upgrade compatibility checks, identify blockers, and prepare remediation plans.
• Review database configurations, schemas, indexes, stored routines, replication, access controls, and backup strategies.
• Design and support logical dump/restore, staged upgrade, replica-based migration, and blue-green cutover approaches.
• Prepare migration runbooks, validation checklists, rollback plans, and production cutover procedures.
• Support performance testing, query plan analysis, and post-migration tuning.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers on monitoring, alerting, backup automation, and operational dashboards.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience with MySQL, including major version upgrades and compatibility assessment.
• Experience planning and executing production database migrations with rollback and validation strategies.
• Knowledge of replication, backups, restore procedures, performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, high availability, RPO/RTO, and production change management.
• Experience with Linux-based database environments, shell scripting, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to analyze schemas, stored procedures, triggers, views, users, grants, charsets, collations, and SQL modes.
• English B2+ required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, Loki, or similar observability tools.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or cloud-managed databases.
• Familiarity with data migration, ETL, data validation, or reconciliation processes.
