Postgres Engine and Extensions Engineer (Postgres): Developing and optimizing a world-class OLTP service on Postgres for the hirify.global data platform with an accent on database internals, extension development, and distributed systems. Focus on implementing novel query optimization, transaction management, and solving high-load scalability bottlenecks.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based in Menlo Park, CA or Bellevue, WA)

Salary: $200,000 – $287,500

What you will do

• Design and develop Postgres extensions to bring differentiating features to the hirify.global platform.
• Implement novel query optimization, transaction management, and data movement algorithms to ensure industry-leading performance.
• Solve complex distributed systems challenges including protocol design, fault-tolerance, and resource management.
• Analyze and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks through deep system analysis and instrumentation.
• Own end-to-end project delivery from initial design and implementation to testing and production rollout.
• Contribute to open source communities (Postgres and Apache Iceberg) and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience in high-performance mission-critical software.
• Proven experience with Postgres internals and its extension framework.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++, SQL, and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database fundamentals.
