Engineering Manager (CMS & Commerce Integration)

TL;DR

Engineering Manager (CMS & Commerce Integration): Leading the strategy and implementation of the content and integration layer connecting AEM and Shopify Plus for OnStar digital commerce with an accent on headless web experiences and data pipelines. Focus on designing scalable content architectures, optimizing API integrations (GraphQL/REST), and managing high-performing engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid; must report to Milford or Warren, MI three times per week

What you will do

• Own the AEM/CMS vision, roadmap, and technical direction for OnStar digital experiences.
• Design and govern content models supporting multi-region, multi-channel, and segmented customer journeys.
• Collaborate with web application teams to integrate AEM content into React/Next.js and Shopify storefronts.
• Establish operational runbooks, SLOs/SLAs, and manage relationships with implementation partners and vendors like Adobe.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of CMS/AEM engineers and administrators, handling hiring and performance management.

Requirements

• Must be based in the US; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in digital experience/CMS platforms.
• 2+ years of experience owning or leading AEM or similar enterprise CMS.
• 2+ years of people management experience (hiring, coaching, performance management).
• Proficiency in web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS, React, APIs, CDNs) and content modeling.
• Strong stakeholder management skills to align business goals with technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem (Target, Analytics, Launch/Tags).
• Backend development background in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Expertise in headless e-commerce platforms such as Shopify Plus (Hydrogen, metafields).
• Familiarity with modern DevOps/SRE practices including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
