Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Architect and maintain the BLE connectivity layer, defining GATT services and connection strategies for the Pod ecosystem.
• Optimize radio-on time, advertising intervals, and PHY selection to ensure low-latency sync of biometric data on always-on devices.
• Ensure seamless interoperability across a diverse range of iOS and Android devices and OS versions.
• Design and harden a secure OTA DFU pipeline to push firmware updates to a global fleet of devices.
• Lead board bring-up, antenna tuning, and silicon-vendor stack integration for Nordic-based platforms.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners in China to develop RF and BLE production tests.

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded software engineering experience, including 3+ years shipping production BLE firmware.
• Deep knowledge of the BLE stack (GAP, GATT, SMP, L2CAP, pairing/bonding, and security).
• Experience with Nordic SoftDevice, nRF Connect SDK, or Zephyr.
• Fluency in C/C++ for microcontrollers and proficiency in Python or Node for host-side tooling.
• Proven ability to optimize ultra-low-power targets and manage battery-life budgets.
• Must be based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY and be willing to travel regularly to China.

Nice to have

• Track record of shipping secure OTA DFU with signed images and dual-bank updates.
• Experience with multi-link or multi-role BLE topologies.
• Bluetooth SIG qualification and regulatory certification experience (FCC/IC/CE/MIC).
• Expertise in bare-metal and cooperative-scheduler design without a traditional RTOS.
• Deep understanding of embedded security, including secure boot and threat modeling for wireless surfaces.
