Technical Director/Lead Engineer (Fire Engineering)

Location: Belgium, with hybrid working and travel across Wallonia and the wider Belgian market. The role is based in Liège with growth driven from the Brussels base and occasional travel within Europe.

What you will do

• Lead the strategic development and growth of Belgian fire engineering operations, with a focus on Wallonia and national coverage.
• Act as Technical Director / Lead Engineer on complex fire and life safety projects.
• Deliver fire engineering consultancy to architects, design teams, contractors, and clients.
• Interpret Belgian fire safety regulations and develop compliant, innovative fire safety strategies.
• Drive business development, proposals, bids, presentations, and long-term client relationships.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent while collaborating with European technical teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in fire safety engineering or technical consulting, including fire strategy, performance-based design, fire protection engineering, or risk-informed approaches.
• Proven experience winning work, developing client relationships, leading teams, or expanding regional operations.
• Strong understanding of Belgian fire safety regulations and regional variations, particularly in the Walloon market.
• Fluency in French and English is required; Dutch is preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, leadership, organisational, and proposal-development skills.

• Experience in the Belgian market, particularly Wallonia.
• Fluency in Dutch.
