Molding/Casting DFM Engineer

TL;DR

Molding/Casting DFM Engineer (Manufacturing): Analyzing incoming 3D CAD part designs for injection molding and other tooling technologies with an accent on DFM reports, feasibility issues, and quality claims resolution. Focus on optimizing part designs, communicating technical solutions with customers and manufacturers across Europe and Asia, and supporting sales team in pre-sales meetings.

Location: Remote full-time with working hours according to Central European Time (start/end negotiable)

What you will do

• Analyze 3D CAD part designs for injection molding and other tooling technologies.
• Review and challenge DFM reports and manufacturers' technical solutions.
• Communicate with customers via video calls to explain DFM reports and gather feedback.
• Optimize part designs to resolve feasibility issues.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to fix quality claims for molding and casting.
• Support sales team in pre-sales meetings with technical Q&A.

Requirements

• Strong English communication skills for multicultural interactions.
• Higher engineering education in thermoplastic processing, plastic part design, or mechanical design (automotive interior, IoT devices).
• Experience in engineering role on production floor with plastic processing or part development for molding/casting.
• Expert knowledge of thermoplastic processing: design rules, tool design basics, common quality issues, Mold Flow analysis.
• Understanding of plastic post-processes (pad-printing, silk-screening, spray painting, etc.).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of other tooling technologies: Vacuum Casting, Compression Molding, Investment Casting, Sand Casting, Metal Injection Molding.
