TL;DR

Senior Covenant Lawyer (Distressed): Reviewing leveraged finance and high yield documentation to produce commercially focused analysis on distressed scenarios and primary market with an accent on covenant packages and restructuring situations. Focus on writing topical reports, answering client questions, and delivering thought leadership through seminars and media.

Location: New York (Hybrid working model, report to New York office)

Salary: $250,000-$275,000

What you will do

  • Review leveraged finance and high yield documentation for distressed scenarios and insightful analysis
  • Write topical reports on secondary situations, collaborating with lawyers and credit analysts
  • Answer client questions on covenant packages of borrowers and issuers
  • Build and expand restructuring and LME databases using proprietary technology
  • Deliver seminars, teach-ins, and podcast segments as subject matter expert
  • Represent hirify.global in press and at industry conferences

Requirements

  • JD with 5+ years experience in restructuring, special situations, or leveraged finance at top-tier law firm
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating high yield bond/leveraged loan documents, restructuring support agreements, and Chapter 11 documentation
  • Keen commercial awareness of leveraged finance and restructuring markets
  • Strong technical understanding of leveraged finance covenants and definitions
  • Existing network in leveraged finance community
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-lawyers
