Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack (AI)

Location: Remote-first with periodic in-person gatherings; candidates must be within a commutable distance of an office hub in London, Oxford, Krakow, or Lisbon.

What you will do

• Own the technical design and implementation of highly visible full-stack features.
• Translate product and business goals into technical specifications for multi-quarter initiatives.
• Define fault-tolerant architectures and operational strategies for automation, monitoring, and long-term stability.
• Use AI coding tools to plan work, decompose ambiguous problems, and establish monitoring and reliability standards.
• Set code-quality and review standards, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and communicate trade-offs across disciplines.
• Simplify, consolidate, or retire legacy code to improve system performance and team velocity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
• Strong experience with at least one modern backend language, such as Java, C#, Go, or Python, plus familiarity with modern frontend frameworks.
• Deep understanding of concurrent programming and scalable, high-performance backend systems in cloud environments.
• Full-stack experience with Java, SQL, React, AWS, and AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, or Open Code.
• Ability to make technical trade-offs, use operational data or experiments to validate decisions, and communicate with non-technical partners.
• Must be based within commuting distance of London, Oxford, Krakow, or Lisbon.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL databases, GraphQL, Kafka, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience building tools or abstractions used across an engineering team.
