Senior Software Development Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work model with at least three days per week in the office. The role is only available in Seattle, and relocation assistance is not offered.

Total cash range: $184,500–$258,000 per year, with potential pay up to $295,000 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve scalable and reliable services, APIs, data models, and software components.
• Lead the technical design and delivery of complex, multi-quarter initiatives across InsurTech shopping, booking, servicing, and claims systems.
• Own features and services end to end, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production improvement.
• Integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled systems, tools, and workflows in production to improve recommendations, product capabilities, and operational efficiency.
• Drive engineering quality, security, observability, resilience, performance, and architectural improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with product, analytics, engineering, and technical leadership teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience leading complex software initiatives through design, implementation, deployment, and operational support.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern programming language and strong knowledge of system design, API design, and data modeling.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, RESTful APIs, microservices, cloud environments, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization, and DevOps practices.
• Experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions, plus the ability to communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree with 6+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with large-scale service architectures, resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Leadership through mentorship, engineering community contributions, and cross-team collaboration.
• Experience with data-driven decision making, metrics, logging, monitoring, analytics, recommendation systems, data-intensive services, or full-stack applications.
