Industrial Hygienist

TL;DR

Industrial Hygienist (Nuclear): Conduct and document industrial hygiene exposure assessments of site processes with an accent on field surveillances, workforce interviews, procedure reviews, sampling for hazards like asbestos, silica, VOCs, welding fumes, noise, and data interpretation. Focus on performing industrial hygiene sampling, calibrating equipment, using professional judgment for exposure assessments, and assisting with general industrial hygiene work.

Location: West Milton, New York, United States. Must have full mobility, ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders, work in industrial and nuclear facility environments with unrestricted access.

Salary: $90,000-$140,000

What you will do

• Conduct field surveillances, workforce interviews, and review procedures and data for comprehensive industrial hygiene assessments.
• Perform sampling for hazards including asbestos, silica, volatile organic compounds, welding fumes, noise dosimetry, and area noise measurements.
• Interpret sampling results and apply professional judgment to exposure assessments.
• Assist with general industrial hygiene work across the naval nuclear propulsion site.
• Coordinate multi-discipline teams using strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Requirements

• Active DOE L Clearance or DOD Equivalent required.
• US citizenship required due to government contract and clearance requirements.
• Bachelor of Science or related field from accredited college/university.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial hygiene, including sampling and calibration of equipment.
• Strong interpersonal, teaming, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• ABIH Certification (CIH).
• Experience with nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processes, or other industrial facilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with industrial hygiene exposure assessment processes and sampling techniques.
• Knowledge of industrial safety and health requirements.
