FES Technician - Sioux Falls, SD

TL;DR

Location: Sioux Falls, SD area, United States. Requires travel to client locations in Southeast South Dakota and Southwest Minnesota. Must have dependable personal transportation. Ability to work outside, lift 50 lbs, and at heights up to 15 feet.

Salary: $35,000–$45,000 (part-time, 24 hours/week) + 5% bonus target + benefits.

What you will do

• Witness performance testing of water pumps, low voltage systems, and line voltage electrical sources on fire apparatus.
• Perform safety and non-safety certification inspections and evaluate test results against UL requirements.
• Audit customer quality management programs and review production, inspection, and shipping processes.
• Use technical judgment for noncompliance decisions and facilitate corrective actions.
• Communicate with manufacturers, customers, and authorities to resolve issues and develop requirements.
• Document inspections using instruments like micrometers and voltmeters, ensuring equipment calibration.

Requirements

• Fluency in English.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and technical ability.
• Understanding of quality systems (previous experience preferred).
• Strong verbal and client-interfacing communication skills.
• Ability to work independently/outside, lift 50 lbs, in confined/elevated spaces.
• Good computer skills and attention to detail.
