TL;DR

What you will do

  • Report and write approximately four articles per week on the health insurance sector.
  • Generate scoops and provide in-depth trend analysis for a niche audience.
  • Interpret complex financial documents, including SEC filings and earnings reports.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Editor to shape coverage and contribute to editorial strategy.
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with insurance executives and industry sources.
  • Work with cross-functional departments to produce multimedia content, including videos and graphics.

Requirements

  • At least five years’ experience in business journalism, ideally covering health insurance or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of generating scoops in a daily or wire publication environment.
  • Experience in editing and the ability to refine other writers' work.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information, SEC filings, and earnings reports.
  • Must be based in New York to comply with the hybrid work model.
  • Strong news judgment, deadline skills, and excellent communication abilities.
