TL;DR

Technical Writer (Electrical Engineering): Designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs for medium and low voltage OEM power distribution products with an accent on product knowledge and field competency. Focus on creating technical curricula, conducting instructor-led sessions, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety codes and standards.

Location: Must be based in the US or Canada (available in Vancouver, Tualatin, Franklin, Fremont, Jacksonville, or Remote)

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical training curricula for medium and low voltage OEM products including switchgear, MCCs, and PDUs.
  • Conduct instructor-led training sessions in classroom, virtual, and on-site factory floor environments.
  • Create comprehensive training materials, including slide decks, participant workbooks, job aids, and videos.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management to ensure content reflects current designs and safety codes.
  • Assess training gaps by collaborating with operations, field service, and customers to build structured solutions.
  • Support onboarding for new hires in engineering, manufacturing, and sales with role-specific modules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience in power distribution.
  • 5+ years of experience in medium/low voltage equipment, field service, or technical training in an OEM/industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution equipment (switchgear, switchboards, breakers, relays) and basic power system concepts.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering technical training for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, LMS platforms, and virtual meeting tools.
  • Location: Must be based in the US or Canada.

Nice to have

  • Experience in OEM manufacturing or data center/utility/industrial environments.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as NETA or NICET.
