TL;DR

Associate Electrical Engineer (Power System Protection): Developing protective setpoints and logic for power systems using industry-standard software with an accent on transmission and substation protection. Location: Hybrid. Must be based in or be able to relocate to Denver, Chicago, Walnut Creek, Bloomington, Burlington, or Irvine (US)

What you will do

  • Develop protective setpoints and downloadable files for relay manufacturers like SEL and GE.
  • Utilize system modeling software including ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, and SKM.
  • Create and manipulate logic for protection and control schemes.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables and calculations following standard methods.
  • Collaborate with project leadership and mentor entry-level professionals and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
  • 1-4 years of experience in the Transmission industry.
  • Understanding of Protection & Control design concepts including one-lines and schematics.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 and NERC-PRC standards.
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment background checks and drug screens.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Mathcad and Excel for protective setting calculations.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like DNP, SEL, MMS, and Modbus.
