What you will do

• Provide functional safety systems engineering analysis and assessments for the autonomous truck compute platform.
• Support development of components including embedded compute, data loggers, LiDAR, radar, camera, and power distribution.
• Lead design discussions on functional safety across hardware, software, validation, and operations teams.
• Derive safety requirements and conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) to define safety goals.
• Perform inductive and deductive safety analyses, including FTA, FMEA, and DFA.
• Maintain requirements databases in DOORS and Jama and develop verification and validation strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Systems/Electrical/Software/Computer Engineering or Robotics (6+ years exp) or Master's degree (3+ years exp).
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Ann Arbor, MI.
• Professional experience in the automotive field developing functional safety.
• Strong understanding of ISO 26262 (FUSA) and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
• Familiarity with safety analysis processes such as HAZOP, FMEA, STPA, and FTA.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues and work across teams and geographies.

Nice to have

• Expertise in software/hardware engineering or motion control.
• Experience with various sensor modalities (LiDAR, camera, radar, etc.).
• Direct experience with Autonomous Vehicles or ADAS safety.
