Technical Lead (Automation)

What you will do

• Lead Automated Defect Detection and Automated Finesse projects from early concept and process studies through launch.
• Define system requirements and develop Statements of Requirements (SOR) to support supplier selection.
• Partner with plant teams and suppliers to ensure systems achieve quality, safety, and performance targets.
• Troubleshoot technical issues on existing installations to identify root causes and prevent repeat failures.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase uptime, quality, and repair efficiency.
• Analyze plant and trial data to identify gaps and opportunities to expand automation capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, preferably in paint operations or automation.
• Experience leading technical projects from concept through launch.
• Comfortable working hands-on with equipment, robots, and production systems.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• Willingness to travel to plants and supplier sites (initially high, then approximately 25%).

Nice to have

• Experience with automated defect detection or robotic repair technologies.
• Experience with AI-based systems used to train and identify defects.
• Background working with vision systems and robotics in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting new technology through trials, testing, and validation.
