Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Design Release Engineer (Automotive): Leading sourcing, design release, and production readiness for semiconductor lines, specifically SerDes and Ethernet systems, with an accent on cross-functional collaboration between internal ECU teams and external semiconductor partners. Focus on managing Statement of Requirements (SOR), overseeing the Product Development Team (PDT), and ensuring the seamless integration of silicon into the vehicle architecture.

Location: Hybrid; must report to a specific location (Milford or Warren, Michigan) at least 3 times a week

What you will do

• Lead sourcing, design release, and change management for specific semiconductor product lines.
• Develop Statements of Requirements (SOR) and ensure on-time integration with ECUs in accordance with vehicle development processes.
• Lead Product Development Teams (PDT) consisting of internal and external partners to ensure production readiness.
• Manage relationships with semiconductor fabrication partners to oversee manufacturing and supply chain arrangements.
• Collaborate with system, software, and hardware engineers to implement full Ethernet system solutions.
• Project manage design changes and report progress to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a DRE, at a semiconductor supplier, or at a Tier 1 ECU supplier.
• 1+ year of experience in electronic hardware design and development.
• Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and software architecture.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Industry knowledge of semiconductor design and application.
• Experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters.
