What you will do

• Manage complex medical billing and insurance cases end-to-end, from AI handoff to final resolution.
• Audit EOBs to verify that CPT, ICD-10, and modifier codes accurately match the services received.
• Identify and dispute coding errors such as unbundling, upcoding, and duplicate billing.
• Contact providers and insurers via phone, email, and fax to resolve claim issues and verify coverage.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to turn case patterns into product improvements and better automation.
• Maintain high-quality case documentation while ensuring strict HIPAA and PHI compliance.

Requirements

• Must be based in the Continental US.
• 2+ years of experience in patient/healthcare advocacy, medical billing, or health insurance.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week between 7am - 8pm EST, including weekends.
• Comfortable with phone-heavy follow-up with providers, insurers, and debt collection groups.
• Solid working understanding of HIPAA and PHI handling.

Nice to have

• Formal medical coding certification (CPC, CPC-H, CBCS, or equivalent).
• Experience working in early-stage healthtech startups (Series B or earlier).
• Deep knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid billing rules.
• Proven track record of reducing patient financial liability through coding corrections.
