Wavelogic Embedded Software Development Co-op (Embedded): Developing and sustaining the Wavelogic Test Platform for the convergence of Photonics, OTN, and Ethernet packet layers with an accent on cross-platform software and services. Focus on designing and debugging drivers, diagnostics, and applications for multi-core embedded CPUs, SOCs, and FPGAs.

Salary: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour

What you will do

• Participate in the full software development life cycle, from initial development through to delivery for end customers.
• Implement cross-platform software and services spanning multi-core embedded CPUs, SOCs, Ethernet PHYs, and FPGAs.
• Design, code, and support drivers, diagnostics, and applications using C/C++ and Python.
• Debug system defects, throughput, and performance issues.
• Develop scripts and test utilities to improve engineering efficiency.
• Collaborate with architects and product verification teams to resolve complex technical problems.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Embedded C and C++ programming languages.
• Exposure to device driver development (Linux or Zephyr).
• Familiarity with Yocto containers, Docker, and similar development tools.
• Availability for a 4-month co-op term starting Fall 2026 in Ottawa, Canada.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) concepts.
• Exposure to software development methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
• Familiarity with optical concepts including DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, and the OSI Model.
