What you will do

• Support day-to-day German accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely bookkeeping
• Partner with external providers and review local accounting deliverables
• Prepare and post journal entries for revenue, accruals, prepaids, payroll, invoices, and intercompany
• Improve month-end close processes and perform reconciliations (bank, AP/AR)
• Manage compliance for German payroll, tax, and statutory reporting
• Handle year-end German GAAP reporting and act as point of contact for limited office operations

Requirements

• 5+ years in accounting; startup/scale-up experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of German GAAP, charts of accounts (SKR 03/04), debits & credits
• Experience with DATEV required; Netsuite, Everest, Quickbooks a plus
• Familiarity with German payroll, tax, VAT, OSS, corporate/trade tax, withholding tax
• Fluency in German (C1) and solid English (B2-C1) reading/writing
• Comfortable with ambiguity, building processes, and utilizing AI tools like DATEV/Excel

• Systems implementations experience
