Harness Design Engineer Intern (Fall 2026)

TL;DR

Harness Design Engineer Intern (Fall 2026) (Aerospace): Work with the harnessing design team on designing flight and test harnessing for spacecraft with an accent on creating wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and 3D layout drawings. Focus on defining interfaces between subsystems, selecting components using EE fundamentals based on voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate requirements, and fabricating in-house cables.

Base Hourly Pay: $29 USD

What you will do

• Work with the harnessing design team on designing flight and test harnessing.
• Create wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings of spacecraft harnessing.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define interfaces between different subsystems.
• Use CAD programs to route harnessing in 3D.
• Utilize EE fundamentals to select appropriate design components based on requirements like voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate.
• Work with production to fabricate in-house cables.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in mechatronics or electrical engineering (or equivalent technical degree).
• Interest in learning about, designing, and working with various spacecraft systems and subsystems.
• Familiar with power and data transmission concepts.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zuken (or other harness design software).
• Experience with various connectors and wire types including MIL circular and D-Sub/microD.
• Experience with 3D CAD software like Solidworks.
