Powertrain Manufacturing Intern (Automotive)

TL;DR

Powertrain Manufacturing Intern (Automotive): Supporting the development and manufacturing of Electric Drive Unit systems with an accent on production tooling, equipment design, and manufacturing standards. Focus on designing and testing tools, developing SOPs, and implementing lean manufacturing practices.

Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Garden Grove, CA (requires 4 days in-office per week)

Compensation: $25-35 per hour

Company

American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company developing a first-of-its-kind EV platform for medium-duty vehicles.

What you will do

• Assist in the design and development of manufacturing standards, processes, and tooling for the Rotor, Stator, and Electric Drive Unit.
• Create and document work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve production issues.
• Support the design, testing, and validation of new manufacturing tools and equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program or higher in a related engineering field.
• Work authorized in the United States or ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Commitment to 4 days in-office per week in Garden Grove, CA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
