TL;DR
Senior Design Manager (AI): Leading and developing a team of product designers to build an AI-native social platform with an accent on design quality, strategic direction, and scaling a lean design culture. Focus on integrating AI tools into the design workflow, coaching designers, and partnering with engineering and product leadership to shape the roadmap.
Location: Hybrid (San Francisco), must be in person Tuesdays and Thursdays
Salary: $161,250 – $215,000

What you will do
- Lead and develop a team of 5-8 product designers, setting a high craft bar and providing actionable feedback.
- Own the design quality and strategic direction for your product area, making strong creative calls.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape roadmap decisions upstream.
- Build structures, rituals, and standards to make the design team more consistent and efficient.
- Hire and develop strong design talent to raise the overall density of the team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product design experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing and developing designers in a professional setting.
- Experience working in both large, structured design organizations and smaller, resource-constrained environments.
- Strong design craft with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to evaluate quality with specificity.
- Track record of coaching individuals and helping them grow into larger scopes.
- Ability to operate as a cross-functional partner at the leadership level.

- Experience importing scalable design operations into lean environments.
