Finance Director (Climate)

Location: Remote, must be based in the United States or within a timezone between UTC -8 (Pacific) and UTC -3 (Brazil/Buenos Aires)

Salary: $100,000 to $232,500 per year

What you will do

• Provide strategic financial leadership to align financial structures and policies with the organization's evolving operating model and global footprint.
• Lead the development of organization-wide financial strategies, multi-year forecasts, and contingency planning (FP&A).
• Manage the annual operating budget process and act as the primary staff liaison to the Board Finance Committee.
• Oversee monthly financial closes, internal reporting, and grant proposal budgeting to support strong decision-making.
• Assess and implement new finance systems and tools to enhance accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency.
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, focusing on coaching, professional development, and optimal workload distribution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (MBA or CPA is a plus).
• 7+ years of relevant experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably in a grant-funded environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and forecasting.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
• Experience with organizational restructuring, new entity registration, and audit coordination.
• Strong proficiency in financial accounting and general ledger software.

Nice to have

• Experience working within an international team.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct.
