TL;DR
Data Business Analyst (Financial Crime): Translating complex Financial Crime-related business needs into clear, structured data requirements with an accent on data quality, governance and analytical capabilities. Focus on evaluating data flows, mapping data structures, and ensuring solutions meet accuracy, regulatory alignment and business value.
Location: Edinburgh (full-time onsite). Flexible working arrangements considered.

What you will do
- Collaborate with Financial Crime SMEs and Technology teams to gather, analyse and document business requirements for data, reporting and controls.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, data mapping documents and solution designs.
- Work with data engineers and testing teams to validate data transformations, schemas and mappings.
- Support development of data models and dashboards for transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and customer risk assessment.
- Facilitate workshops to validate requirements and data solutions.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, promoting data literacy across the programme.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of data analysis, data governance and business process modelling.
- Experience with diverse datasets, schema comparison and data integrity evaluation.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel and Python for analysis and validation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA.
- High attention to detail, analytical problem-solving and ability to interpret Financial Crime data patterns.
