TL;DR

Principal ASIC Design Engineer (ASIC/SoC): Leading the end-to-end design strategy for critical hardware powering quantum computers with an accent on performance, power, area, and system integration. Location: Must be based in Boulder, CO, or Austin, TX

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end ASIC design strategy from requirements definition through silicon bring-up.
  • Develop FPGA designs to analyze hardware architectures and scale them for performance and density.
  • Establish internal ASIC design processes, including methodologies for architecture, RTL, verification, and tapeout.
  • Perform hands-on ASIC design, including microarchitecture, RTL development, testing, and integration.
  • Coordinate schedules and vendor interfaces to ensure successful fabrication and milestone alignment.
  • Collaborate with quantum physicists and engineers to deliver hardware that meets complex research and commercial use cases.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of post-degree experience in hardware engineering, specifically in ASIC/SoC environments.
  • Successful completion of 2 or more full ASIC design cycles.
  • Experience porting designs from FPGA prototypes to ASICs.
  • Proficiency with RTL, specifically SystemVerilog.
  • Experience implementing large digital signal processing (DSP) blocks in RTL.

Nice to have

  • Experience with mixed signal design.
  • Working knowledge of Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA design tools.
