TL;DR

Interior Comfort Thermal CAE/CFD Engineer (Automotive): Building and executing advanced thermal and airflow simulations for vehicle cabin comfort with an accent on CFD analysis and 1D/3D simulation tool integration. Focus on optimizing passenger-compartment thermal management, developing predictive simulation models, and advancing virtual calibration workflows.

Location: Hybrid: Must report to Warren, MI at least 3 times per week

What you will do

  • Conduct full-vehicle CFD simulations to optimize cabin thermal management and passenger comfort.
  • Develop and maintain 1D cabin models integrated into full-vehicle thermal plant simulations.
  • Partner with Calibration teams to execute CFD-based analyses and accelerate virtual calibration processes.
  • Post-process complex simulation datasets to identify performance gaps and provide technical recommendations.
  • Utilize commercial CFD and 1D solvers (ANSA, STAR-CCM+, GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink) in HPC environments.
  • Lead virtual performance delivery and mentor other engineers to improve simulation workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of automotive industry experience focusing on thermal systems or cabin comfort.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with commercial CFD solvers like STAR-CCM+.
  • Strong foundation in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Mechanics.
  • Must have valid US work authorization; no immigration sponsorship provided.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Teamcenter, VisMockup, or Unigraphics/NX.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or integrating Machine Learning (ML) and AI into engineering simulations.
  • DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
