Clinical Lab Scientist 1 (3rd Shift)

TL;DR

Clinical Lab Scientist 1 (3rd Shift) (NGS): Perform and report clinical lab testing on patient samples using next generation sequencing with an accent on specimen handling, test analyses, reporting, and quality control. Focus on identifying and resolving test performance issues, supervising lab activities, and ensuring compliance during inspections.

Onsite: 5 days a week in Fremont, CA. Available shifts: Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm-6:30am or Thursday-Monday 10:00pm-6:30am (training may vary).

Salary: $56.25 to $66.00 per hour (3rd shift premium eligible, plus performance bonus and equity).

What you will do

• Perform clinical lab testing including specimen handling, next generation sequencing processes, analyses, and reporting patient results.
• Maintain records, follow quality control policies, and ensure compliance with lab procedures.
• Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting, or notify management.
• Supervise lab activities in absence of onsite manager and monitor non-licensed personnel.
• Train other CLS personnel and staff in laboratory methods.
• Participate in quality management, licensure activities, on-site inspections, and assay development as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in sciences or related disciplines.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license OR CGMBS license.
• 0-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Nice to have

• Experience with manual DNA/RNA extractions, manual library prep, and working with a microtome.
