Laboratory Manager

Laboratory Manager (NGS/Clinical Lab): Oversee daily operations of laboratory services across clinical and translational research for cancer diagnostic testing with an accent on personnel management, workflow optimization, and regulatory compliance. Focus on ensuring TAT and quality targets, instrument maintenance, inventory management, and cross-functional coordination.

Location: US Remote (full-time onsite Tuesday-Saturday schedule; licensure in California required; qualified as General Supervisor in New York and California)

What you will do

• Maintain wet-lab proficiency, provide training and bench support, ensure technical coverage across shifts, and meet TAT, quality, and productivity targets.
• Review and release patient reports under delegation, monitor performance metrics, implement corrective actions, and oversee instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Manage inventory with Supply Chain, optimize workflows, lead process improvements, and handle operational contingencies like equipment downtime.
• Supervise laboratory personnel including performance management, coaching, recruiting, onboarding, training, and competency assessments.
• Represent lab in cross-functional initiatives, coordinate with teams like Quality Assurance, Bioinformatics, and Assay Development.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, FDA, oversee quality control, proficiency testing, safety programs, and inspection readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in biology, chemistry, medical technology, or related field.
• Certification as MLS/CLS or equivalent, and licensure in California required; qualified as General Supervisor in New York and California.
• Minimum 3 years in people leadership roles in laboratory and operations.
• Proficiency in high-complexity testing techniques including molecular biology and NGS.
• Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, FDA, GxP regulations, quality control, and laboratory safety.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Experience with laboratory instruments operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
