Salary: Base annual $240,000 - $260,000 USD

What you will do

• Build and evolve cloud-based compute platform as part of core product suite for life insurance.
• Collaborate with developers and product manager to deliver production-quality software.
• Design relational database schemas and handle 3rd party integrations via REST APIs and JSON.
• Address challenges of distributed systems, security, and application performance using profilers and scanning tools.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD tooling for reliable deployments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years developing production-quality code
• Ability to collaborate in-person 1-2 days/week from San Jose office
• Must work mostly during Pacific Time Zone hours
• Experience designing relational database schemas
• Firm understanding of object-oriented or functional programming, data structures, and algorithms
• Strong communication and collaborative skills in a close-knit team
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript and React for production code
• SaaS applications on AWS (S3, EKS, RDS, EC2)
• Familiarity with Docker
• Strong typing appreciation and test-driven development practices
• Built abstraction layers for junior engineer productivity
