TL;DR
Network Design & Test Professional (IP/MPLS): Designing, deploying, and validating solutions for BT’s converged IP/MPLS core network with an accent on routing, network automation, security, and test capability. Focus on developing complex network designs, integrating and upgrading network equipment, solving live and OSS test issues, and improving engineering processes.
Location: Birmingham or Ipswich, United Kingdom; office-based role

What you will do
- Lead complex network designs, developments, upgrades, and associated technical artefacts for new products and platform improvements.
- Design and validate solutions for BT’s converged IP/MPLS core network.
- Identify opportunities to adopt software and network automation.
- Scope and execute tests, support live and OSS test issues, and maintain test capability.
- Install, integrate, and upgrade network equipment while maintaining consistent configurations.
- Mentor junior staff and represent the network platform in internal and vendor meetings.
Requirements
- Strong IP networking knowledge, with CCNA or NRS1-level competence and deeper specialization in an area of experience.
- Working knowledge of IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VPWS, and VRFs.
- Experience with network testing tools such as IXIA or Spirent and awareness of network security.
- Ability to write or interpret simple programs using software development best practices; Python is preferred.
- Understanding of network automation and description languages such as Jinja2 and YAML, plus version control such as GitLab.
- Experience creating complex network solutions, leading projects, collaborating with design, test, planning, and operations teams, and implementing process improvements.

- Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to business stakeholders.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies.
