What you will do
- Provide legal interpretation and regulatory guidance for multi-line and multi-state insurance product filings.
- Assess regulatory requirements impacting Employee Benefits, Protection, and Retirement products.
- Lead legal positioning for state filing objections and negotiations to prevent product launch delays.
- Translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for Product, Actuarial, and IT teams.
- Identify legal and regulatory risks early in the product development lifecycle.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on product filing legal issues.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum 8 years of legal or regulatory experience interpreting insurance statutes and filing requirements.
- Experience supporting insurance product filings in Employee Benefits, Life, or Disability lines.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Actuarial, and Compliance teams.
- Proficiency with regulatory filing systems including SERFF and I-FILE.
Nice to have
- Experience leading filing strategy for multi-state insurance products.
- Familiarity with state insurance department interactions and negotiations.
- Prior experience as an internal regulatory or legal subject matter expert.
- Experience contributing to functional transformation within compliance organizations.
