TL;DR

Staff Systems Architect (Automotive): Leading the technical architecture of Body domain Co-Simulation environments, defining and governing CoSim packages, and leading variant and configuration management across programs and model years. Focus on ensuring CoSim solutions are scalable, robust, and fully integrated into continuous integration pipelines for GM’s Software Defined Vehicle Architecture.

Location: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Center three times per week, at minimum

Salary: $147,000 to $196,600

What you will do

• Provide technical and architectural leadership for body controls Co-Simulation, setting the long‑term vision and roadmap for CoSim capabilities and infrastructure.
• Define and maintain a high‑level CoSim architectural design for body controls, comprehending functional and non‑functional requirements and aligning with SDV and Mechatronics Infrastructure direction.
• Define the variant & configuration management strategy for CoSim packages across programs, regions, model years, and option content.
• Lead and influence stakeholders to ensure Body CoSim architecture is understood, adopted, and used consistently across programs.
• Own the CoSim architecture for RestBus and behavioral modeling, defining how networks, ECUs, and vehicle behaviors are represented in simulation.
• Define CoSim architectural enablers required to support Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) for virtual ECUs and CoSim packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer / Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in embedded software, systems engineering, or controls, with substantial time spent in simulation, SIL/HIL, or Co-Simulation for automotive or similar safety‑critical domains.
• Proven experience as a System Architect, Software/System Engineer, or SIL/CoSim technical lead with responsibility for architecture across multiple programs or domains.
• Strong understanding of body electronics / body controls at system and ECU level.
• Deep hands‑on experience with SIL or Co-Simulation environments, including integration of virtual ECUs, plant models, and communication models for embedded controllers.
• Strong skills in at least one system or software language used in CoSim tooling (e.g., C/C++, Python) and experience working with automated build / CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, gcc/gdb, Eclipse or similar).

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Prior Staff‑level or equivalent experience leading architecture for a complex embedded or simulation system.
• Experience designing or operating cSIL / continuous integration pipelines for embedded software, including quality gates, promotion strategies, and automated regression selection.
• Experience architecting RestBus and ECU behavioral models for body or multi‑domain CoSim, including diagnostics, fault injection, and error handling behavior.
