TL;DR

Engineering Manager (TypeScript/React/Node.js): Lead cross-functional teams building and evolving shared platform capabilities for high-stakes assessment systems with an accent on technical strategy, code quality, and system reliability. Focus on designing AWS architectures, guiding implementation decisions, managing delivery under uncertainty, and fostering team growth in mission-critical environments.

Location: Remote (USA only). Option for hybrid (Tuesdays/Wednesdays in office) if living near CB offices in NYC or Reston, VA. Occasional travel (3-5 times/year) required. Must have authorization to work in the United States for any employer.

Salary: $125,000 - $170,000

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership: craft technology strategy, review/write code in TypeScript/React/Node.js, manage scope, costs, and security.
  • Build high-performing teams: define Agile ceremonies, cultivate skills, support diversity, and invest in growth.
  • Interface with partners: understand business needs, manage workloads, provide expertise, and align on priorities.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in Agile software development for secure, data-heavy apps.
  • Proven web/platform delivery in cloud (AWS architectures).
  • Hands-on with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, React; code writing/review.
  • Managed 4-8 engineers; full people management experience (hiring, coaching).
  • Strong planning, communication, leadership in fast-paced settings.
  • US work authorization required.

Nice to have

  • Experience establishing new teams/products in large organizations.
  • Platform/infrastructure/vendor management.
