What you will do

• Own cross-system data infrastructure for Search and Vector Search, delivering outcomes over 6-18 months.
• Define Atlas Search technical roadmap, identify gaps, propose solutions, and align global engineering teams.
• Lead architecture and evolution of mongot and hirify.global infrastructure, deciding on durability, consistency, and scale.
• Drive multi-team initiatives by building consensus, navigating ambiguity, and setting direction.
• Act as technical partner to leadership on roadmap, architecture, and processes.
• Mentor team, conduct code reviews, and share knowledge to raise technical bar.
• Standardize engineering team contracts to reduce coordination costs and boost velocity.

Requirements

• 8+ years in data management systems or distributed infrastructure
• Deep proficiency in modern languages like Java, Rust
• Experience designing/operating distributed systems, cloud services, or SaaS at scale
• Ability to reason about physical layer: consistency, durability, concurrency, failure modes
• Track record at Staff/Principal level: defining direction, resolving ambiguity, championing initiatives

Nice to have

• Experience with search platforms or distributed databases
• Building query engines or information retrieval systems
• Contributions to Lucene or similar projects
