Senior Engineer Manager (Confluent Experience Foundations): Lead the evolution of shared UI/UX infrastructure and critical TEAR domains (Security UI, Networking UI, Billing UI) supporting Governance, Flink, Kafka, Connect, and Tableflow with an accent on establishing reusable patterns, best practices, and architectural decisions for security, networking, and billing. Focus on hands-on technical leadership, cross-functional partnerships with PM/Design, and elevating engineering capabilities across multiple product teams through mentorship and AI tooling.

Location: Remote in Canada; must have ability to work in Canada without sponsorship. Some travel may be required.

Salary: CAD 133,700–248,300 per year

What you will do

• Establish reusable patterns and best practices for UI engineers in security, networking, and billing domains across Governance, Flink, Kafka, Connect, and Tableflow.
• Evolve Experience Foundations infrastructure from UI-only to support API/CLI/TF/VSCode/MCP interfaces organization-wide.
• Drive technical leadership by diving deep into complex systems like networking protocols, security models, and billing systems.
• Partner with PM and Design to own execution, translate complexity into plans, and ensure technical feasibility.
• Mentor engineers, manage teams/managers, foster ownership, and champion developer productivity via AI tools and automation.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership while building connections across product teams.

Requirements

• Must have ability to work in Canada without sponsorship; not eligible if Foreign National from US-sanctioned countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea/Luhansk/Donetsk/Kherson/Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine) on work permit.
• 8+ years software engineering experience with 4+ years in engineering management.
• Strong hands-on frontend expertise (React, TypeScript, design systems).
• Proven ability to distill complex domains into patterns adopted across teams.
• Deep technical background to unblock teams and make architectural decisions.
• Strong communication and cross-functional partnership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience managing managers or leading leaders.
• Domain knowledge in Security (RBAC, SSO, BYOK), Networking (VPC, PrivateLink), or Billing.
• Experience evolving platform teams for broader needs.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
