AR Specialist

TL;DR

AR Specialist (Behavioral Health Billing): Supporting billing teams by working with insurance companies to ensure efficient reimbursement for therapy sessions and pursuing outstanding A/R for customers. Focus on reviewing aging reports, following up on denials and claims, and managing appeals and payments.

What you will do

• Review customer account and A/R aging reports, follow up on outstanding claims with insurance companies, and notate all work per SOPs.
• Handle denials by immediate follow-up, appeals submission, and trend communication to Customer Billing Advocate (CBA).
• Manage open A/R tickets in Salesforce, post payments, submit corrected claims, and research payor billing rules.
• Attend POD and customer meetings, contribute to agendas, and work toward collective team goals.
• Monitor key performance metrics and foster a positive work environment.

Requirements

• Remote only from specified US states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, MO, NC, NE, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• ABA billing experience; minimum 1 year in billing with major commercial insurance and state Medicaid.
• Experience using insurance portals; proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, professional writing and phone skills; positive attitude.
• Strict HIPAA-compliant confidentiality with client data.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Speech, OT, and Mental Health billing experience.
• 1+ year in office or billing company setting.
• Experience with billing software/EMR (Rethink, Azalea, etc.), clearinghouses, and denial platforms (DocVocate).
