Senior Process Engineer (Optical Inspection)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work includes time on the fabrication floor, standing, walking, and cleanroom work.

Base annual salary: $118,875–$174,350.

What you will do

• Own the development, stabilization, optimization, and ongoing performance of automated and manual mechanical inspection processes for optical manufacturing.
• Define inspection parameters, tooling, fixturing, measurement methods, process windows, capability targets, and monitoring strategies.
• Analyze inspection data to identify variation, drift, rework, First Pass Yield loss, and chronic stability risks.
• Lead structured root cause analysis, corrective-action verification, 6P readiness, and qualification of new fixtures, tools, software, processes, and equipment upgrades.
• Maintain process specifications, work instructions, and standard work for robust, documented, repeatable processes.
• Collaborate with production technicians, supervisors, Quality, Equipment Engineering, Maintenance, and cross-factory teams.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in optical fabrication and visual inspection.
• Experience with tooling mechanics, mechanical inspection methods, process development, and manual and automated mechanical inspection tools.
• Experience using JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software.
• Demonstrated structured problem solving, data analysis, root cause analysis, process improvement, 6P readiness, and verification-driven corrective action.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership skills in a production environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive conditions.
• Visual acuity for inspection tasks and willingness to work in a cleanroom while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to lift materials up to 35 pounds and work around noise, vibration, manufacturing equipment, strong magnetic fields, high voltage, and high currents.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology before beginning work.
