Hardware Test Systems Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Salt Lake City, United States; onsite five days a week

What you will do

• Design and build custom hardware/software test fixtures for the Hive, Cell, and Sense product families.
• Electrically stimulate, measure, orchestrate, and validate embedded hardware across operational regimes.
• Test, report bugs, and debug mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software issues with development teams.
• Improve test coverage through manual and automated testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Support engineering test, hardware bring-up, and deployment of the autonomous building platform in cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field.
• 3+ years of experience in a test- or design-focused role.
• Ability to independently architect, design, and build custom hardware/software test systems.
• Hands-on hardware laboratory experience with wiring, soldering, rework, instrumentation, and prototype electrical-system debugging.
• Experience designing, coding, debugging, and maintaining Python test scripts.
• Knowledge of test methods, test levels and techniques, statistics, and data analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience interfacing software with power supplies, DAQs, sensors, and embedded hardware.
• Basic Linux, terminal, PCBA design, bring-up, and debugging experience.
• Familiarity with SPI, UART, I2C, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
• Ability to read schematics and identify test points and test cases.
• Startup experience and experience building test infrastructure from the ground up.
