What you will do

• Own portfolio of priority policy positions: manage position papers, FAQs, talking points, fact sheets for audiences and access.
• Drive consensus on contested technical policy with experts across affairs, legal, comms, research; moderate and document positions.
• Develop and test message framings with internal/external audiences, iterating on effectiveness.
• Translate technical AI research and capabilities into policy-ready language for policymakers.
• Advise federal, state, international affairs teams: improve processes, build libraries, collateral, strategies.
• Lead cross-functional policy projects like model launch strategies, narrative coordination, emerging topics.

Requirements

• Location: Must work hybrid from San Francisco, CA or Washington, DC offices (25%+ time)
• Direct experience with message development/testing for policy, advocacy, communications.
• Experience translating technical/scientific material for non-expert decision-makers.
• Comfort operating across multiple policy areas; quick fluency in new topics; technology policy interest.
• Experience building/running rapid-response processes or crisis playbooks.
• Service-oriented for internal clients without owning external relationships.
• Bachelor's degree in related field.

Nice to have

• 8+ years in public affairs, consulting, government relations, policy campaigns, think tanks.
• Experience in regulated industries like tech, finance, energy, pharma.
• Ability to anticipate emerging issues and develop perspectives proactively.
• Designed/ran signature programs or campaigns end-to-end.
• Translated topics via communications, visual storytelling, marketing, advocacy.
