TL;DR

Senior Publisher (STM Journals): Manage and grow a dynamic portfolio of scholarly medical journals with an accent on financial performance, editorial operations, stakeholder engagement, and portfolio development. Focus on acquiring new publishing opportunities, negotiating contracts, launching journals, and applying AI-enabled tools to enhance strategy and efficiency.

Location: Hybrid - 8 days a month in the office (USA locations including Philadelphia PA, Minneapolis MN, Clayton MO, St Cloud MN, Victoria MN; view all 17). 15-20% travel between offices (Philadelphia, New York) and to conferences.

Compensation: $78,400 - $136,950 USD (eligible for bonus)

What you will do

• Develop and execute publishing strategy with Associate Director, identifying priorities based on market trends and competitive analysis.
• Manage journal/portfolio P&Ls, budgeting, forecasting, and performance to meet ROI targets.
• Acquire new journals/partnerships, respond to proposals, launch products, and negotiate editor/society/sponsorship contracts.
• Oversee editorial development through communication with authors, editors, societies, and teams; enhance submissions and impact.
• Promote journals via marketing, conferences, and stakeholder collaboration; drive website usage and visibility.
• Apply AI tools for decision-making, synthesize feedback, manage projects, and ensure timely content updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 8 years publishing experience.
• 5+ years STM (Science, Technology, Medical) publishing experience.
• Strong financial analysis, organizational, writing, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Experience managing editorial resources and project execution.

Nice to have

• 3+ years print/online product development and management.
• 5+ years journal publishing.
• Financial modeling, defining requirements for high-traffic websites, major project management.
