Development Engineering Technician

TL;DR

Development Engineering Technician (Electromechanical): Applying methods and techniques to complete precision electromechanical assemblies, preparing prototype assembly and test instructions, generating test setups, and conducting performance and hardware development testing with an accent on integration of precision components and fabrication of electrical assemblies. Focus on investigating assembly problems, diagnosing performance issues, summarizing data for engineering inputs, and supporting design modifications.

Location: Onsite – Buffalo, NY (East Aurora location). Position requires access to United States Export Controlled information and 5-10% travel.

Salary: $33.00–$41.00 Hourly (Buffalo, NY)

What you will do

• Perform complex assembly, testing, and diagnostic analysis on electronics under minimal direction.
• Build close tolerance mechanical assemblies, integrate precision components, and fabricate/install electrical assemblies.
• Select or create tools, fixtures, and test setups; conduct development and acceptance tests using standard equipment.
• Develop methods, processes, and tooling for precision assemblies from engineering drawings and instructions.
• Diagnose performance issues, identify design modifications or rework, and investigate build problems.
• Prepare assembly/test instructions, documentation, and reports; assist in formal technical documentation and training new personnel.

Requirements

• 2-year Technical Degree plus 5 years electronics experience.
• Substantial experience in specialized assembly, measurement, and test techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, diagrams, and instructions.
• Proficiency with mechanical inspection tools and electromechanical test equipment.
• Access to United States Export Controlled information required; 5-10% travel.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and systems.
• Experience assisting engineers in performance diagnosis and value engineering.
