TL;DR

Sr. Manager, Payroll & Tax: Own end-to-end multi-state payroll execution and tax compliance for integrated accounting entities with an accent on process ownership, team leadership, and regulatory monitoring. Focus on standardizing SOPs, leading month-end reconciliations, resolving tax variances, and coordinating entity integrations with data migrations.

Location: Hybrid work environment in Tampa, FL (US). Flexible hours may be required.

Salary: $130K–$156K + performance bonus

What you will do

  • Own multi-state payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery for assigned pay groups.
  • Maintain SOPs, define controls, and drive payroll standardization across integrated entities.
  • Partner with Finance for payroll-to-GL alignment, accruals, reporting, and audit support.
  • Manage and develop junior Payroll Managers and Processors, building scalable workflows for growth.
  • Monitor federal/state/local regulations, triage employee inquiries, and coordinate benefits deductions.
  • Lead integrations, system audits, data migrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in multi-state payroll processing with increasing responsibility
  • 2+ years leading or managing a payroll team end-to-end
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (UKG preferred), benefits, and compliance.
  • Experience with payroll tax returns (941, 940, state filings), reconciliations, and resolving notices.
  • Proficiency in multi-state tax compliance, electronic filing (EFTPS), and amended returns.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

  • Background in benefits administration or US payroll taxation.
  • Certifications like CPP or PMP.
  • Experience with HRIS data migrations and M&A integrations.
